Data Collection
We collect minimal information to provide you with a personalised experience:
- User Type: Your selected category (e.g., Submariner, Veteran) - stored locally only
- Age Bracket: Your selected age range - stored locally only
- App Usage Data: Mood logs, goals, ritual completions - all stored locally on your device
This information never leaves your device and cannot be used to identify you.
What We Don't Do
- No personal identity collection (name, email, phone number)
- No GPS or location tracking
- No camera or microphone access
- No contact list access
- No advertisements
- No subscription fees
- No data sharing with third parties
- No tracking for marketing purposes
Content Synchronisation
The app connects to our servers to download educational content, scenarios, and protocols. This connection:
- Downloads content updates when you have internet access
- Does not upload any personal data
- Is not required for core app functionality (works offline)
Local Data Storage
All personal data (mood logs, goals, settings, preferences) is stored locally on your device using secure local storage. This data:
- Stays on your device only
- Is never transmitted to external servers
- Is permanently deleted when you uninstall the app
- Can be manually deleted at any time through the app's "Manage Your Data" section
Your Right to Delete Data
You can delete all your data at any time:
- Go to the app's home screen
- Tap "Your Data" at the bottom
- Select "Delete All My Data"
- Confirm by typing DELETE
This permanently removes all locally stored data. You can also simply delete the app to remove all data.
Children's Privacy
Below the Surface is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
