Does this app work offline?
Yes! All core features work completely offline. This includes breathing exercises, mood tracking, daily rituals, goals, affirmations, and games. Educational content syncs automatically when you have an internet connection, but previously downloaded content remains available offline.
Is my data private?
Absolutely. All your personal data (mood logs, goals, settings) stays on your device only. We don't collect personal information, and nothing is uploaded to external servers. If you delete the app, all your data is permanently removed. You can also manually delete all data through the app's "Manage Your Data" section.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their respective policies. To request a refund, please contact the store where you made your purchase. Apple typically allows refunds within 14 days, and Google within 48 hours for immediate refunds or longer through their support process.
How do I delete all my data?
You can delete all your data at any time:
  1. Go to the app's home screen
  2. Scroll down and tap "Your Data"
  3. Tap "Delete All My Data"
  4. Type DELETE to confirm
Alternatively, simply uninstalling the app will remove all data from your device.
Is this app a replacement for therapy?
No. Below the Surface is designed to support your mental wellbeing with helpful tools and resources, but it is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you're struggling with mental health issues, please consult a qualified healthcare provider. If you're in crisis, please contact emergency services immediately.
What devices does the app support?
Below the Surface is available on:
  • iOS: iPhone and iPad running iOS 14.0 or later
  • Android: Devices running Android 6.0 (API level 23) or later
Can I transfer my data to a new phone?
Since data is stored locally on your device, transferring to a new phone depends on your backup method:
  • iPhone to iPhone: Use iCloud backup or direct transfer during setup
  • Android to Android: Use Google backup or manufacturer's transfer tool
  • Cross-platform: Data cannot be transferred between iOS and Android
